Good Governance Study Abroad and Academic Certification Program
NOTE: THE GOOD GOVERNANCE PROGRAM DOES NOT CURRENTLY HAVE A FRANCOPHONE PARTNER IN BELGIUM. PLEASE CHECK BACK IN 2007.
The EU Center is proud to announce the second competition for its Good Governance Study Abroad and Academic Certification Program. The program is targeted at undergraduate and graduate students who are seeking careers in politics, the public sector, and nongovernmental organizations.
A Two-Semester Program
Students learn about Good Governance and study political processes and policy outcomes in Europe and the United States. Students will examine adherence to accepted principles of good governance and compare best practices on both sides of the Atlantic. In the first (fall) semester, students take a web-assisted introductory course in Good Governance, area studies and/or language preparation courses to prepare for study abroad. The second semester (spring) is spent at one of the transatlantic GGC partner institutions (Austria, Italy, Finland, Belgium). Students continue to interact online via a multi-site course on the EU. While abroad they also complete courses in their area of focus. After successful completion of the Good Governance Program, students receive a certificate of achievement from their home university.
Areas of Focus
Participatory Democracy, Governance and Business, Environmental Policy/Sustainable Growth, Social Policy, Public Finance, and Transatlantic and International Governance.
Scholarships
$3,000 for semester study abroad and $1,500 for language preparation.
