French Major

To receive a French Major, a student must complete 44-47 hours of coursework beyond the 100 level courses. In addition, 6-8 hours of supporting coursework in Western civilization as well as 12 to 15 hours of electives should be chosen in consultation with the Department of French Undergraduate Advisor.

Required courses include French 205, 207, 208, 209 and 210 or their equivalent; plus 32-35 hours of French beyond these courses. These 32 to 35 hours may not include 100 level courses and must include courses outlined below. French 199 may be included if approved by the Department of French Undergraduate Advisor. 12-15 hours in courses are to be chosen from other departments or programs.

Students majoring in French may choose either the French Studies Option, the French Commercial Studies Option, or Foreign Language Teaching Education.
