French Teaching
Curriculum Preparatory to the Teaching of French
In order to remain in good standing in this program and be recommended for certification, candidates are required to maintain UIUC, cumulative, content area, and professional education, grade-point averages of 2.5 (A= 4.0).
Students seeking State of Illinois K-12 teacher certification should consult the Foreign Language Teacher Education office (2090 Foreign Languages Building, tel: 217-333-7363).
Departmental distinction: A student must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average, including a 'Satisfactory' in the teaching practicum; complete two additional advanced-level courses in French or the teaching minor; complete a senior thesis (FR 492), and provide two letters of recommendation as evidence of exceptional teaching potential. Consult the teacher education adviser for details.
